Friday of the Third Week of Lent (March 20, 2009)
Today Jesus gives us the key to success. We will be able to continue on this journey and encounter Him in the resurrection if we love the Father more than anything in this world. Love is the key. If we love, then everything else will fall into place. If there is love in our heart, we'll be able to feel compassion and mercy, we'll be able to obey whatever God asks of us, we'll be able to carry our crosses with a renewed energy and strength.
He goes on and tells us "you shall love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:31. If we love everybody the way we love ourselves, we'll be able to forgive. We are not perfect, yet we continue to love ourselves no matter what we do. The world is imperfect and will fail us, but if our hearts are full of love, we'll be able to overlook its imperfections and we'll be able to forgive.
